Local hip-hop artist releases hit song
The song focuses on motivation and encouragement to never give up on your dreams.
Dipalo Andrew Kgaphola (28), also known as Labeto from Atteridgeville, released a hit song titled “Happy Birthday”.
Labeto is a local hip-hop artist who recently released a song about celebrating life and the day a person was born.
“The song focuses on motivation and encouragement to never give up on your dreams. Life should be celebrated every day.
“I was inspired to write this song and release it on my birthday, August 13 but had to release it sooner as my fans were starving for more music.
“I released it on all digital platforms,” he said.

Labeto said the song is a clean song that is good for singing along and you can enjoy it with friends and family.
“I produced the beat and sang on it and it is a work of art I want to share with the world.”
Labeto said he started officially releasing music on February 1 this year.
“It got me international collaborations from America, Mexico and Nigeria. Some collaborations (UK and USA) have already released four songs.
“I also shared my music on Instagram “@labeto” which brought more traffic to my music and attracted international collaborations. Now I have over 30 000 streams on Spotify.
“On my catalogue, I have four songs that I released independently and one of them is an international collaboration with R&B artist, Deitrich Johnson.

Labeto said his music is unique because he had the chance to get used to the music industry and see what everyone is doing.
“So when I create music it sounds different with elements of all popular artists that I like including Chris Brown, Justin Bieber, Ed Sheeran, Trey and Usher.
Labeto said he grew up in a musical family so music has always been part of him but realised he had talent when he was six years old.
“Just before I went to primary school I knew I had to learn language and communication so I could create good music.
“I was really smart, my family only found out 10 years later,” he said.

Labeto said he got inspired by Michael Jackson to pursue music because he did music in a very unique and interesting way.
“That got me intrigued till this day. I still appreciate him for paving the way for singers, dancers, rappers and producers like me.”
