Akasia police need information to arrest cyber crime group in north

Lieutenant-Colonel Frans Modise urges the community to report similar criminal activities directly to him on 082 498 4542.

Akasia police are urging residents to come forward with information that could lead to the arrest of a cybercrime syndicate based in Pretoria North.

This after police followed up on a tip-off last weekend of a group that is allegedly robbing people of their money online.

According to Akasia police spokesperson Lindiwe Mabaso, a search revealed nothing but it was believed that the perpetrators managed to have hidden the equipment used to commit the crimes.

Police have, however, engaged the crime intelligence unit and they are on an ongoing operation in this area.

Meanwhile, Akasia police in conjunction with the specialised units K9 and Flying Squad arrested a woman in Soshanguve with an undisclosed amount of dagga.

The woman appeared in the Pretoria North magistrate’s court on October 27.

Akasia acting station commander Lieutenant-Colonel Frans Modise welcomed the operation and urged the community to report similar criminal activities on 082 498 4542.

He also encouraged security guards to report suspicious incidents at the premises where they work.
