Police arrest two in Centurion after shooting

The victim was admitted to Kalofong hospital and treated for gunshot wounds.

Wierdabrug police arrested two security guards in connection with a shooting at a filling station near the Sarel Baard Gateway industrial park on Monday.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Divine Nkuna said at this time police have not fully established the motive for the shooting but added that the security guard had argued with a Take-a-lot driver.

“There was an altercation between the driver and the security guard, which led to the tragic incident,” Nkuna added.

She said the victim sustained three gunshot wounds. The victim is currently being treated for these gunshot wounds at Kalafong hospital and is believed to be in a stable condition.

According to the police, the suspects fired six shots at the victim but only three managed to hit him.

Shooting incidents have been rife in Centurion recently. Earlier in the year, Rekord reported that a man (68) was hospitalised with a head injury after he was shot in his residence in Pierre van Ryneveld.

At the time Emer-G-Med emergency services spokesperson Kyle van Reenen the patient suffered a single gunshot wound to the head.

“Emergency care practitioners stabilised him using advanced life support intervention before he was airlifted to a specialist facility,” he said.
