Domestic worker, five others arrested for house robbery

Cullinan police arrested five suspects including a domestic worker following a 72-hour operation.

A domestic worker and five men were arrested for house robbery after a Cullinan police 72-hour investigation.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Connie Moganedi said the police traced the suspects to a house in Tembisa in the early hours of Wednesday.

The suspects are between the ages of 25 and 40.

Cullinan police recovered stolen goods

She said the joint operation started immediately after a worker reported they were robbed on a plot in the area on Tuesday.

“The unknown suspects allegedly came on to a plot with a truck, ransacked the premises and got away with the stolen goods,” said Moganedi.

“The stolen goods include kitchen electrical appliances, clothes, liquor, laptops, hunting rifles and ammunition.”

She said further investigations revealed one of the suspects is the boyfriend of the domestic worker.

Cullinan police commander Lieutenant-Colonel AC Gertzen appreciated the dedication of the investigators, crime prevention unit and crime intelligence members for their successful operation.

The police further pleaded with the public to cooperate with them by reporting any suspicious activities.

All six suspects will appear in the Cullinan magistrate’s court on charges of house robbery soon.
