Tshwane North district police arrest 10 for selling liquor without a licence

The Tshwane North District SAPS arrested 10 people for public drinking and selling liquor without proper documentation over the weekend

The Tshwane North District SAPS arrested 10 people for public drinking and selling liquor without proper documentation over the weekend.

The district held a multidisciplinary operation with the Department of Correctional Services, Community Policing Forum and the Gauteng Community Safety Forum.

Police spokesperson Constable Lindiwe Mabasa said the aim of the operation was to instill law and order in the area and also to embark on a cleaning campaign.

“The aim was to address lawlessness and also continue the cleaning campaign that the Station Commander, Colonel Godfrey Zwane, launched a week ago,” said Mabasa.

She said the operation was successful, adding that they managed to visit 12 shopping complexes, 14 ATMS and 12 filling stations.

Mabasa also said members who took part in the operation managed to do stop and searches of more than 153 people and 15 vehicles.

“Although the operation focused more on addressing lawlessness, a cleaning campaign took place at the police station during the operation and proved to be a success and the police station was deep cleaned.”

At the same time, as part of the police ministry’s festive season inspection road show, the district will on Friday host police minister Bheki Cele.

Cele is expected to visit places like Mabopane train station, Soshanguve Crossing and Wonderpark Mall Food Court.
