A middle-aged man believed to be in his 40s sustained serious injuries on Monday morning when he tried to commit suicide on the N1 South at the Jean Road Bridge crossing in Centurion.

A middle-aged man believed to be in his 40s sustained serious injuries on Monday morning when he tried to commit suicide on the N1 South at the Jean Road Bridge crossing in Centurion.

According to Cert-SA the man fell onto a metal road barrier when he attempted to hang himself.

“The man sustained serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital in a critical condition by Netcare911.”

The motive behind the man’s suicide attempt is still unclear.

According to sources known to the Rekord, police have opened an inquest docket to determine the motive behind the incident.

“An inquest docket has been opened, which will allow police to investigate the matter throughly.

“Sometimes people attempt suicide, so we must get to the bottom of it,” the source said.
