Courier van highjacked outside security estate in Centurion
Police are looking for four male suspects.”
A courier van was hijacked outside Thorns Estate in Eldoraigne on Friday.
Wierdabrug police spokesperson Sergeant Divine Nkuna said the hijacking happened in the morning at around 11:00, adding that no one was injured.
“Police are looking for four male suspects,” Nkuna said.
She said the suspect made away with a courier van, a cellphone and car keys.
However, Eldo Thorns Security Estate manager Denis Enegeet told Rekord that she was not aware of the incident, which reportedly happened right outside the estate.
“Our security guard would have alerted us of it,” Enegeet said.
Courier vans have been targeted in both Centurion and Pretoria recently.

Early last year, a courier was robbed in Pierre van Ryneveld Park when suspects took everything in his van and drove away.
To combat such hijackings in the area, the Rietgat police station decided to make their station a drop-off point for courier mail parcels after a spike in hijackings, kidnappings and assaults involving courier personnel.
DSV managing director Andre Wagner said he was concerned about the attacks on courier companies, saying that it was no longer acceptable for criminals to do as they pleased.
Wagner urged other roleplayers in the industry to work with law enforcement agencies to ensure courier van drivers’ safety.
Crime activist Yusuf Abramjee said, “it’s a real problem that needs real intervention”.
“Despite this, some security companies have instituted measures while others are still being hit very hard.”
