" What enable me to excel although my high school career was constantly looking for ways to academically better myself and not comparing myself to my peers" says Headgirl 2022, Tshiamo Lepolesa

My high school experience can best be described as a rollercoaster ride, having its ups and downs, but ultimately closing on a hopeful and climactic note. 2020’s unwelcome arrival of Covid-19 effectively ground learning, and a regular high school experience, to a halt. All the while, regular load shedding threatened academic progress and provided an obstacle to work around. In spite of this, I can still say that High School has been a learning experience (personally and academically), and it has shaped me into the person I am today. Through the unyielding support of my mother, good friends and the stellar teachers and resources of The Glen High School, I was able to achieve beyond expectation, ensuring that those who invested in me reaped what they had sown. The approach I took to preparing for finals was one of realistic rigor. I followed a study schedule set, according to the “1, 2, 3, 5, 7” method, making sure to leave time for rest and to ‘reset’, ensuring that I avoid burnout while tackling the exam season. This, and a lack of hesitance in asking for help where needed, sealed my Matric success.
Following the release of my results, I have gained acceptance to the University of Pretoria, where I will be studying Industrial Engineering, funded by a bursary awarded by Zutari.

To say 2022 was a challenging year as covid matrics is an understatement , But it was truly a fruitful year. From being part of the head prefects, to leading Prayer at school and being a cell leader, It was so memorable. One needs to work hard to prosper but remember to enjoy the experience and make memories for yourself to look back on.
- Headgirl 2022, Tshiamo Lepolesa (4 distinctions) says:

Being in The Glen High School has been such an interesting learning experience for me. I have gotten to learn more about myself and I got to really push myself beyond my limitations. My favourite part about my experience was getting to experience the immense amount of love that my teachers had; my teachers became my parents away from my parents, and they have been there for me in ways that most teachers wouldn’t be.
Becoming the Dux scholar really required a lot of diligence, hard work and prayer (I am not kidding you). What enable me to excel although my high school career was constantly looking for ways to academically better myself and not comparing myself to my peers.
Current my plans are to study Law and I cannot wait to start this new journey!
