Tshwane metro police issue fines of more than R500k during Big Bang Easter operations

Tshwane metro police issued fines amounting to over half a million rand before and during Easter weekend’s “Big Bang” operations for various offences including by-law contraventions.
“Operations such as this yielded good results,” said TMPD spokesperson senior superintendent Isaac Mahamba.
From April 3 to April 9 offenders were issued fines amounting to R557 400.
He said TMPD enforced thorough road policing.
“We arrested one drunk driver in Mabopane on Good Friday (April 7).”
He said the TMPD tactical unit with other role players arrested a female suspect in Pretoria North for possession of unlicensed firearms on Saturday, April 8.
“In Pretoria West, our K9 members responded to a house-breaking in progress on April 8 and managed to arrest the suspect who was found on the premises,” he said.
Mahamba said a suspected drug dealer was found in possession of heroin and mandrax with an estimated street value of R45 000.
“On Tuesday, the TMPD drug unit members arrested him in Lotus Gardens.
“The suspect was also charged with reckless and negligent driving as he tried to evade arrest and caused a multiple-vehicle collision.
