Fifty-five suspects were arrested during crime combating operations led by the police in Tshwane Central over the weekend for crimes ranging from assault, theft, possession of drugs and robbery.
Central Saps spokesperson Daniel Mavimbela reported that three suspects were arrested in Sunnyside after they were caught with suspected stolen property, while four were found with dangerous weapons.
“An alleged robber was also hauled into the police cells.
“In addition to that, police operations in the eastern suburbs led to the arrest of 11 motorists for allegedly driving while intoxicated, while several other suspects were caught for drinking in public.”
He added that six alleged thieves were jailed, including one suspect who was nabbed in Pretoria North for theft of cables.
“Police reminded bullies who believe in settling domestic disputes with violence that they too do not belong in society when a suspect was caught for assaulting a spouse and damaging property.
“All the suspects that were caught during the weekend’s operations are expected to appear at various courts in Tshwane soon.”
