Road construction for BRT in east progressing well
“The construction does not have any setbacks and seems to be going to plan and it will be completed on time unless setbacks occur, “says the ward councillor.
Construction on the January Masilela Drive and Glenwood Road sidewalks between Atterbury and Lynnwood roads is progressing well and is on schedule.
This was according to ward councillor Pieter van Heerden.
The metro has been working on construction in the east of Pretoria since last year November.
Van Heerden said the sidewalks between Atterbury and Lynnwood roads for the bus rapid transit (BRT) and the widening of the intersection of January Masilela Drive and Glenwood Road are on schedule.

“The construction does not have any setbacks and seems to be going to plan and it will be completed [in June] on time unless setbacks occur,” Van Heerden added.
He said measures were put in place to reduce traffic during the construction, such as:
– Signs erected to indicate the speed limit.
– Jersey barriers were placed along the work areas and moved where necessary to narrow the lanes to a single lane as part of traffic calming.
– Flag handlers are placed along the route to warn motorists.
– Pointsmen are used as needed.
In the meantime, residents are urged to use alternative routes via Glenwood and Ilkey roads in the west and also Garsfontein or Faerie Glen in the east.
Spokesperson of the Metro Lindela Mashigo previously told Rekord that the construction is expected to finish in June.
