A light motor vehicle overturned and crashed into a scrapyard.

A man and a woman were left critically injured after their vehicle overturned, left the roadway and crashed into a scrapyard on Saturday night.

The accident occurred on the R104 in Silverton.

Responding to the incident Emer-G-Med paramedics found an adult man ejected during the incident and an adult woman entrapped in the wreckage.

“Advanced Life Support intervention was needed to stabilise both patients.

“Due to the critical condition of the woman a decision was made to airlift her through to a specialist facility for the definitive care that she required,” he said.

The man was transported rapidly by ambulance to a nearby hospital for further care.
