R5 000 reward to find missing east dog

“We went to a braai at about 18:30 and when we came back around 22:30, I saw her collar laying about a metre from the gate. We suspect that she has been stolen though.”

A Pretoria east dog owner has offered a R5 000 cash reward for Finley, her dachshund cross breed who went missing on May 13 in Moreletapark.

“We are not sure how Finley went missing,” said Gaby Fonseca.

“At about 18:30 we went to a braai and when we came back around 22:30, I saw her collar laying about a metre from the gate. We suspect that she has been stolen though.”

Finley’s collar was found inside the yard.

Fonesca is a friend of Charné Griesel, the dog’s owner.

Griesel asked residents on Wiedrigh Street and surrounding areas to please help locate the dog as the dog was her “absolute everything”.

She said Griesel was heartbroken.

Unfortunately, Finley was not microchipped.

OWNER HEARTBROKEN OVER MISSING DOG

According to Fonesca, Finley had grown on Griesel as she had received the pet during a time when she was facing depression.

“Her owner got her during Covid while she was going through depression and the little baby instantly brought light into not only her life but the whole family.

“She is the friendliest, playful baby girl. Her owner did not treat her as a pet, but more as a human being. She and her owner did everything together, from napping to taking weekly walks.

“Now Charné’s heart is shattered, because she can’t imagine not having Finley around anymore.”

Fonseca said Finley was not the type of dog to run off.

“The pup has been well taught to not go outside the gate.

“We honestly just want our baby back. We don’t care how it happened, we just want her safe return.”

Little Finley is black and tan; her hind legs have white paws and she weighs about 8/9kg.
