Home Affairs temporarily extends operating hours

The office will be open from 08:00 to 17:30 on Tuesdays.

Home Affairs recently extended the operating hours at its local branches by two hours to meet the growing demands for smart ID cards and passports.

Minister of Home Affairs, Dr Aaron Motsoaledi said the department receives a higher volume of applications during school holidays thus it had to extend hours.

He was quick to add the extended working hours were a temporary measure.

The office will be open from 08:00 to 17:30 on Tuesdays.

Resident Lethabo Moeketsi said he was happy the department wanted to help more people.

“The extending of operating times will save everyone’s time,” Moeketsi added.

Mmathapelo Matlhare said this will help a majority of people.

“Unlike when you have to wait for long hours and when you finally get to the front you are told to return tomorrow,” she said.
