Elderly man shot multiple times at guesthouse

The man suffered gunshot wounds to his abdomen, arms and legs.

An elderly man was shot multiple times at a guesthouse in Kameeldrift on Wednesday evening.

According to Advanced Paramedic Assist Emergency Medical Services, they were called to the scene at 19:25.

The exact circumstances surrounding the shooting are unclear at this stage.

On arrival, the paramedics found a 59-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds to his abdomen, lower arm, and legs.

“The victim was bleeding severely and was in a lot of pain,” said paramedics spokesperson Renata Erasmus.

Paramedics stabilised the man on the scene before rushing him to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

Advanced Paramedic Assist Emergency Medical Services thanked local police and the CPF for closing off the road to the hospital.

“There was no time to stop,” said Erasmus.

“The patient was critical and needed to get to the hospital as quickly as possible.”

Rekord has reached out to the police for comment but has yet to receive it by our time of publication.
