The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles paint Irene green

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle lovers enjoyed activities and performances at a special screening.

Turtle Power was in full swing this past Sunday at the Irene Village Mall for the special viewing of the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ Mutant Mayhem is set for release in cinemas on August 11, but Paramount Pictures and partners invited special guests to Irene Ster-Kinekor for an authentic TMNT experience to promote the film.

The orange carpet was rolled out, fountains overflowing with green slime, and attendees enjoyed all the TMNT culture had to offer.

Marketing director for Paramount Pictures, Stefan Rheeder says that the whole event was meant to give back to the loyal TMNT fanbase and thank Irene Mall for their help.

“Irene Village Mall did a brilliant installation for us. They took an open shop and converted it into a TMNT lair. The TMNT live down in New York City sewers with Master Splinter so because they recreated that we thought that why not just bring the lair but also all the fun activities we can offer before the movie hits cinemas?”

Some of the activities included a 360-spinning camera photoshoot, graffiti walls where attendees could spray paint, skateboard simulator games, actual skateboards for attendees to skate on, and various live performances.

Performances included breakdancers, a beatbox performance from Morgan Beatbox and a karate show from Karien Jacob’s karate school, among others.

Some of the notable partners and attendees involved included PEP, Ackermans, Nickelodeon, Prima Toys and various celebrities and influencers such as acclaimed South African comedians David Kau and Nicholas Goliath.

Rheeder says Paramount looks forward to an upcoming Martin Scorsese movie later on in the year and Bob Marley’s One Love, set to be released in January 2024.
