Affie-wildsfees attracts thousands of people
A total of seven thousand people attended a well-organised fund-raising event of both Afrikaans Hoër Seunskool and Afrikaanse Hoër Meisieskool.
Afrikaans Hoër Seunskool hosted a successful 2023 Affie-wildsfees on Saturday in the east of Pretoria.

Although Affie-wildsfees is a closed event, the well-organised occasion was a major success. It is only open to teachers and parents of the learners, and their close associates as well as their children above 11 years old.
“The tickets were sold out two weeks before the event took place,” Afrikaans Hoër Seunskool media liaison officer Dirk Taljard told Rekord, citing that only invited guests attended as it is not open to the general members of the public.
This is in line with the aim of the event, which is to provide an opportunity for the parents, teachers, and learners of both Afrikaans Hoër Seunskool and Afrikaanse Hoër Meisieskool to strengthen their social bonds and celebrate the two schools, Taljard said.

At the event, guests were treated to live music and dishes made from game meat.
“The menu included soup, game meat wors, biltong and pies.”
He said enthusiastic bidding took place at the auction for hunting packages, getaway weekends, and paintings, adding that children above 11 years had fun in the amusement park.
Taljard added that since 2001 the organising team introduced artists’ performances to provide even more value for money to the visitors.
In this year’s event artists include Appel and Zaan Sonnekus delivered stunning performances and both artists are alumnus.
The event also had winners of the two schools’ annual Battle of the Bands provided with an opportunity to perform in front of a big crowd.
Parent Marile Viljoen said they were excited to attend the event.
“It is one place where everybody, from both Afrikaans Hoër Seunskool and Afrikaanse Hoër Meisieskool, can come, sit and have a lovely time together,” Viljoen said.
She said the event had a family feeling.
