Man airlifted after a head-on accident in Moreleta Park

One man was airlifted, and two other people were mechanically entrapped after a head-on accident in Moreleta Park.

Paramedics said a man was airlifted, and that two other people were trapped after a head-on accident in Moreleta Park.

Emer-G-Med spokesperson Kyle van Reenen said the accident took place on Thursday evening on Rubenstein Drive.

Emer-G-Med paramedics responded to reports of a serious motor vehicle collision and arrived at the scene on Rubenstein Drive in Pretoria East.

“Upon arrival, paramedics found that the crash involved two light motor vehicles and several people were injured,” said Van Reenen. He added that the two light motor vehicles collided head-on.

“As a result of this impact, two patients from one vehicle became mechanically entrapped,” he said.

Van Reenen said the Gauteng Provincial EMS’s Special Operations Response Team helped with extricating the patients from the wreckage.

Emer-G-Med’s Advanced Life Support Paramedics stabilised the patients on the scene.

“Paramedics worked swiftly to assess and treat the injured and to transport them for further medical attention.”

Due to the severity of one patient’s injuries, a decision was made to airlift him to a specialist facility with the assistance of ROCKET HEMS.

The cause of the collision is still unknown and forms part of the police investigation.
