Journalist and TV anchor Derek Watts loses fight against cancer
The investigative journalist was diagnosed with skin cancer last year, which had spread to his lungs.
Renowned Carte Blanche anchor and journalist Derek Watts has died.
According to reports, Watts (74) lost his battle against cancer on Tuesday morning.
In June, Watts announced that he would be stepping back from his work to focus on his health.
He was diagnosed with skin cancer last year, which had spread to his lungs, according to a statement released by M-Net earlier this year.
He was also rushed to hospital in April after collapsing due to a suspected stroke. He was later diagnosed with severe sepsis.
Watts has been part of Carte Blanche since its inception in 1988.
He was well-known for his investigative journalism, playing an instrumental role in uncovering truth and justice for many.
Various tribute messages poured in for Watts following the news of his passing on Tuesday.
