Two children rescued from building fire in the CBD

No injuries were reported and investigations are underway to uncover the cause of the fire.

A fire broke out at the Koopkrag building on the corner of Johannes Ramokhoase and Paul Kruger streets, Pretoria central, on Thursday morning .

According to Tshwane emergency services deputy chief and acting spokesperson Peter Matolla, the call came in at 10:05.

“We responded to the scene immediately to find that two rooms on the second floor of the building were on fire,” Matolla said.

“Firefighters managed to retrieve two unharmed children from the burning building. No injuries were reported.”

The emergency responders successfully extinguished the fire, though firefighters are still on the scene to stamp out any remains of the blaze.

The cause of the fire is still unknown and investigations are under way. Updates will be communicated.
