Woman airlifted to hospital following stabbing in Menlo Park
A seriously injured woman was rushed to hospital, while a man was taken to hospital under police guard on Friday.
A woman was airlifted in a critical condition after she was stabbed several times, while a man was taken to hospital under police guard following a stabbing at a residential property in the Menlo Park area.
According to a statement by Brooklyn CPF sector 2, “children were involved but not physically harmed.” The CPF said that their first responders started medical care on both victims before Emer-G-Med, Netcare 911 and SVTA EMS responders took control of the scene.
“One adult male was transported to a local hospital under police guard,” read the CPF statement, while the woman was airlifted to a trauma hospital due to the serious injuries she sustained.
The CPF said there were no shots fired, despite reports of gunshots. “By all accounts, the lady survived due to the quick and accurate response, dispatching of resources and treatment.”
The SAPS has yet to confirm if a case had been opened by the time of publishing.
Emer-G-Med spokesperson, Kyle van Reenen, said that paramedics responded to the scene at a residential property. “Advanced Life Support intervention was needed to stabilize her before she was airlifted by the Netcare911 aeromedical helicopter to a specialist facility for the definitive care that she required,” said Van Reenen.
