Fire breaks out at Eugene Marais Hospital
The fire has been contained, and police have asked residents to clear the area for emergency services
A fire that broke out at Eugene Marais Hospital in Pretoria at about 18:00 on Thursday afternoon has been contained.
No injuries were reported, and details are still scarce at this stage.
According to a notice doing the rounds from the Gauteng Provincial Police, emergency services are inbound to assist.
“Please keep the area clear for emergency services. Please avoid the area and use alternate routes,” said Emer-G-Med emergency services spokesperson Kyle van Reenen, adding that the cause of the fire was a generator that caught fire during load-shedding.
Van Reenen confirmed that there were no injuries reported.
