Motorcyclist airlifted to hospital after collision near N1 onramp in Rooihuiskraal

The cause of the collision is unknown and is subject to a police investigation

A motorcyclist has sustained serious injuries after a collision with a light motor vehicle in Centurion on Saturday afternoon.

The accident happened on the Old Johannesburg Road near the N1 onramp in Rooihuiskraal.

On arrival, Cert-SA emergency services found the motorcycle driver lying on the road with serious injuries.

“The patient was stabilised on scene and airlifted by a Netcare911 Aeromedical Helicopter to a level one trauma facility,” said Cert-SA.

The emergency services said the occupants of the light motor vehicle escaped the incident with no injuries.

The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are not clear at this time.

Earlier on Saturday, in an unrelated incident, Cert-SA responded to a minibus taxi and light motor vehicle collision, where one woman was trapped in the wreckage.

Cert-SA said the incident happened on Saturday morning, at 02:02, at the intersection of the R55 and Ruimte Road in Heuweloord.

“Upon arrival, it was determined that a light motor vehicle and a minibus had collided, resulting in one person sustaining injuries.”

A female patient who suffered moderate injuries was successfully extricated from her vehicle and transported to a nearby hospital in stable condition.

Cert-SA said the driver of the minibus, who had minor injuries, underwent assessment by on-scene medical personnel.

The exact circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear at this time, prompting the police to initiate an accident report and investigation.
