Centurion hit-and-run accident claims one

One person was killed and a woman was transported to hospital in a stable condition.

Two cyclists were allegedly involved in a hit-and-run accident, leaving one dead on Botha Avenue, Kloofsig in Centurion on March 23.

The incident occurred in the morning, and the man succumbed to his injuries, while the woman was transported to hospital.

According to Community Emergency Response Team SA (Cert-SA) spokesperson Ruan Heyns, the two had been cycling on a tandem bicycle, when they were struck by a vehicle near DF Malan Avenue.

“One person was killed and another injured. The injured [woman] was transported to hospital in a stable condition.”

“It was an alleged hit-and-run incident, and police have just finished processing the scene.”

The exact cause of the accident was subject to an ongoing police investigation.
