Water supply downtime for Philip Nel Park

Parts of Pretoria West and Centurion will have their water affected for 10 hours today.

The metro has announced its intention to carry out emergency upgrades to the water supply network in Philip Nel Park.

The upgrades are set to take place on April 11 from 08:00 to 18:00 on the corner of Morkel Street East and Jan Heukelmann Avenue.

The following areas will be affected:

– Danville Ext 0, 1, 2, 3 and 8

– Elandspoort

– Philip Nel Park

– Danville Primary School

– Elandspoort High School

– Hoërskool Pretoria-West

– Laerskool Generaal Beyers Primary

– Metro Police Academy

– Philip Nel Park fire station

– Pretoria Golf Club

– Pretoria West Hospital

– Rebecca Street Crematorium and Cemetery

– Tshwane Leadership and Management Academy (Premos)

– Tshwane University of Technology (Main Campus)

“Tshwane’s team of plumbers will carry out another emergency upgrade and tie in connection to the water supply network in Highveld Ext 65 on Kaoline Street and Olievenhoutbosch Road,” the metro said in an official statement.

“The City of Tshwane apologises for the inconvenience that may be caused by the mentioned upgrades.”

The following areas affected by this work will be:

– Highveld Ext 2, 7 and 8

– Irene Ext 52

– Centurion Academy

– Hyundai Centurion

– Makro Centurion

Residents are advised to make use of the following water-saving tips while the work is being done:

– Do not water or irrigate gardens with hosepipes or sprinkler systems between 06:00 and 18:00.

– Do not wash vehicles with hosepipes.

– Do not fill swimming pools.

– Install a low-flow shower head and tap aerators where possible.

– Use a dual-flush toilet cistern.

– Use a broom instead of a hosepipe when cleaning driveways or patios.

– Collect rainwater to reuse in the garden or wash the car.

– Cover the swimming pool to reduce water evaporation.

– Take a short shower rather than a bath.

– Close a running tap while brushing your teeth or shaving.

– Regularly check toilets and taps for leaks.

– Use grey water to water gardens and flush toilets.

– Where possible, water-saving devices should be installed.
