Vehicle losing control on Olympus Drive ends in pedestrian’s death
The vehicle lost control around the roundabout and collided with the victim before overturning next to the road.
A woman was killed earlier today (Tuesday, April 23) when a vehicle drove into her after the driver lost control on Olympus Drive in Pretoria east.
According to Casper Visser, spokesperson for the Volunteer Emergency Medical Response Unit (VERMRU), the unit was alerted about a serious accident on Olympus Drive just after 09:00.
Visser said upon arrival they found that a vehicle had lost control around the roundabout and collided with a pedestrian before overturning next to the road.
“The woman was found with life-threatening injuries, and despite resuscitation efforts, she was unfortunately declared dead.”
Visser said the driver was uninjured and is complying with SAPS to investigate the cause of the accident, which would form part of police investigations.
