Pretoria hosts 2nd edition of the National Film & TV Awards SA
The National Film Academy is behind awards such as the National Film Awards UK, National Film & TV Awards USA, and National Reality Television Awards.
The National Film Academy held its second edition of the National Film & TV Awards South Africa at the State Theatre in Pretoria on Saturday, November 9.
The awards celebrated the finest achievements in the film and television industry in South Africa.
They delivered an unforgettable night of glamour, excitement, and tribute to African talent.
Media personalities Jordan Kensington, Lesedi Phala, and Nicole Watson of The Real Housewives of Johannesburg were the hosts for the night.
They brought charm and sophistication to the stage, expertly guiding the audience through the evening’s festivities.
The ceremony began on a heartfelt note with an opening prayer setting an electric tone that carried through the evening.
South Africa’s top actors, actresses, directors, and producers, came in numbers to support their collegues.
The National Film Academy is one of the world’s largest film and TV organisations, boasting more than 7.5 million members globally.
Spokesperson of the National Film & TV Awards SA, Isabella Lercari, said the National Film Academy stands tall as one of the world’s largest film and television organisations with a rich 26-year legacy.
“The academy is renowned for its esteemed awards, including the National Film Awards UK, National Film & TV Awards USA, and National Reality Television Awards.”
According to her, last year’s introduction of the National Film & TV Awards South Africa marked a significant expansion celebrating African talent.
“The second annual edition continued this legacy, solidifying its place in the industry,” she said. “3.7 million public votes reflected nationwide enthusiasm and immense support for local talent.”
The winners were as follows:
– Best Actress: Nambitha Ben-Mazwi (Savage Beauty / Empini)
– Best Actor: Bonko Khoza (Red Ink)
– Best TV Drama Series: Skeem Saam
– Best Male TV Personality: Graeme Richards (Expresso Morning Show)
– Best Female TV Personality: Lethabo “Lejoy” (The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip)
Other notable wins included:
– Best Supporting Actress: Lorcia Cooper (Red Ink)
– Best Supporting Actor: Vuyo Dabula (The Butcher’s Soul)
– Best Documentary: Chasing The Sun 2
– Best Feature Film: Heart of the Hunter
– Celebrity Personality of the Year: Trevor Noah.
