Tshwane residents must prepare for 24-hour water supply disruption due to maintenance

Residents in Tshwane are advised to prepare for potential water supply disruptions due to maintenance of water infrastructure on Saturday, January 25.

Metro spokesperson Lindela Mashigo said Rand Water notified Tshwane that it plans to maintain the infrastructure at its 02 Pipeline.

“The work will be carried out for 24 hours on January 25 from 06:00 to January 26 at 06:00.”

He said the maintenance work will impact the water utility’s Palmiet System, which supplies the Klipfontein, Brakfontein, and Hartebeeshoek reservoirs.

“Residents in areas supplied by the affected reservoirs can expect low water pressure or, in some instances, no water supply during the shutdown period.”

Mashigo assured the public that the city would take proactive measures to minimise inconvenience.

“As part of our planning, we will work to fill the reservoirs before the maintenance begins,” he said.

He urged residents to use water sparingly during the repair period.

“While we anticipate that our reservoirs will be adequately filled, interruptions in the water supply are still possible during the repair period,” Mashigo added.

He said Tshwane technicians will also ensure that the city’s water sources are functioning optimally throughout the maintenance work.

– Bakenkop Reservoir
– Blair Athol Reservoir
– Brakfontein Reservoir
– Clifton Reservoir
– Erasmia Reservoir
– Ga-Rankuwa Reservoirs
– Heuweloord Reservoir
– Kosmosdal Connection
– Kruisfontein Reservoir
– Laudium Reservoir
– Lotus Gardens Reservoir
– Louwlardia Reservoir
– Mabopane Reservoir
– Magaliesberg Reservoir
– Mnandi Reservoir
– Raslouw Reservoir
– Rooihuiskraal Reservoir
– Saulsville Reservoir
– Soshanguve L Reservoir
– Sunderland Ridge Reservoir
– The Reeds Reservoir
– Valhalla Reservoir
– Winterveldt Reservoir

Mashigo urged residents to store enough water for household purposes during this time.

The metro wishes to remind residents to always adhere to the following water conservation measures:

– Do not water or irrigate gardens with hosepipes or sprinkler systems between 06:00 and 18:00.
– Do not wash vehicles with hosepipes.
– Do not fill swimming pools.

Residents are encouraged to report any water-related incidents using the following contact numbers:

– For no water supply, burst water pipes, leaking meters, or blocked street sewers, call 012 358 9999 or 080 1111 556.
– To report illegal water connections, dial 012 358 9060.
– For issues related to non-payment, contact 012 345 8514.
