East house robbery suspect linked to six more cases to return to court

The suspect has been linked to multiple cases of housebreaking.

A housebreaking suspect is scheduled to appear in the Pretoria Magistrate’s court on February 18 for a formal bail hearing for allegedly entering a property in Elardus Park, east of Pretoria earlier this month.

This follows his first court appearance on February 7.

According to police spokesperson Captain Johan van Dyk, the incident occurred on Tuesday, February 5, at approximately 21:30.

He said the homeowner, who was watching TV at the time, heard a noise outside and checked his CCTV camera.

“He spotted an unknown man walking in the yard and immediately contacted the Community Police Forum (CPF) and Bull Security.”

Van Dyk said that within minutes, the security team arrived and began searching for the suspect.

He said while searching they noticed a broken window, indicating forced entry.

He added that upon investigation, the suspect was later found attempting to jump the wall and was apprehended by the security team.

“The police also arrived at the scene and arrested the suspect.

“Further investigation revealed that the suspect is linked to six more cases of the same modus operandi.”
