Parts of east experience mass power outage
The 132kV Njala Line 1 to Highlands substation tripped, impacting multiple substations, including Highlands, Lynnwood, Villeria, Koedoespoort, Willows and CSIR.

Residents in parts of the east are without electricity after a mass power outage on Tuesday morning.
According to Ward 82 Councillor Siobhan Muller, the outage was caused by a trip at the Highlands substation.
“The affected areas include Lynnwood, Hillcrest, University of Pretoria, Menlo Park, Koedoespoort, Waltloo, Eersterust, Brandwag, and Samcor Park.”
Muller said that the 132kV Njala Line 1 to Highlands tripped, impacting multiple substations, including Highlands, Lynnwood, Villeria, Koedoespoort, Willows and CSIR.

According to Tshwane’s X page, Tshwane’s electricity department has dispatched a team to investigate the cause of the outage.
Highlands Substation local supply, Lynnwood local supply, Hillcrest, Univ Pta, Menlo park, Koedoespoort, Waltloo local supply, Eersterust, Brandwag and Samcor park.
Willows and CSIR Subs are on.
The team is still onsite investigating the cause of the outage.

The page states that preliminary findings indicate that only a portion of Line 1 is affected, specifically the Region 6 Highlands Sub, which supplies electricity to wards 44, 45, 46, and 83.
