High court temporarily closed due to CBD power outage
Members of the public, court users and legal practitioners are advised that the Gauteng Division of the High Court in Pretoria is temporarily ceasing operations today.
The High Court in Pretoria will be temporarily closed today due to lack of power supply.
The Office of the Chief Justice advised members of the public, court users and legal practitioners that the Gauteng Division of the High Court, Pretoria, would temporarily cease operations on Tuesday, 18 February, due to a power outage in the Tshwane CBD affecting the court.
“The court’s generator is currently out of commission,” it said.
Affected parties will be contacted regarding alternative arrangements for all matters scheduled on the court roll for the day.
Metro spokesperson Lindela Mashigo said the city was aware of a power outage affecting parts of the CBD and Marabastad.
“The outage was caused by a 132kV transformer trip at Boom Street Substation. The city’s team of technicians is attending to the fault.”
Mashigo said the estimated time of restoration will only be determined once the cause of the trip has been identified and fixed.
The Office of the Chief Justice and the metro have apologised for the inconvenience caused by the unplanned interruption of power supply.
