Scheduled water interruption in north of Pretoria
The water supply will be down on Wednesday from 07:00 to 17:00.
Parts of Hammanskraal in the north of Pretoria will experience water supply interruptions this Wednesday.
Metro spokesperson Lindela Mashigo said the Tshwane Water and Sanitation Department will shut down water to the Babelegi Reservoir distribution areas of Hammanskraal.
“This is to allow the city’s technicians to install the refurbished control valves inside the Babelegi Booster Pump Station. This essential work is scheduled to last for 10 hours,” said Mashigo.
Mashigo said the reservoir inlet and outlet will be closed which will result in a water supply interruption.
This essential work will take up to 10 hours from 07:00 to 17:00.
The following areas will be affected:
– Babelegi Industrial Area
– Ramotse
– Mandela Village
– Marokolong
– Kekana Gardens
– Refilwe
– Portion 9
“Tshwane apologises for the inconvenience that may be caused by the scheduled upgrade work.
“Roaming water tankers will be arranged to supply the affected residents with water.”
Mashigo urged resident to continue to make the following water-conservation measures part of their normal lifestyle:
– Do not water gardens or wash cars with a hosepipe.
– Do not clean driveways or pavements using hosepipes.
– Do not fill swimming pools.
– Flush toilets only when necessary.
– Close the tap while brushing your teeth.
– Reduce daily water usage as much as possible.
He urged residents to report water leaks, burst pipes and all water wastage to the metro.
