Police investigate ‘rape’ at Montana retirement home
The complainant reported that while she was in the kitchen, the security officer approached her, forcibly kissed her and pushed her onto a sofa in the living room.
Police are investigating an alleged rape that took place at a retirement home in Montana, north of Pretoria recently.
Police spokesperson Captain Johan van Dyk said the incident occurred on Saturday evening (February 15), when the victim had visited her mother’s home in the retirement lodgings.
Van Dyk said during the visit, the victim called for help when her mother had collapsed.
The name of the retirement home is withheld to protect the identity of the victim.
“The complainant explained that around 20:15, she noticed her mother had fallen and was struggling to get her back onto the bed.
“Unable to lift her, she called for assistance from a security officer on duty at the home,” said Van Dyk.
He said the security officer responded and helped her move her mother onto the bed.
“Both the victim and her mother expressed their gratitude, with the complainant giving the officer a hug and offering him a soft drink.
“The complainant reported that while she was in the kitchen preparing the drink, the security officer approached her, grabbed her, and forcibly kissed her.
“She stated that the officer then pushed her onto a nearby sofa in the living room and raped her.”
The security officer left the scene and the victim told police she did not see the attacker thereafter.
“A case of rape has been opened and it will be handed to the prosecutor for a decision.”
Rekord reached out to the home but had not received any comment at the time of publication.
