Soulbent Project champions Lupus awareness

Saulsville residents came out in their numbers to initiate a cleaning campaign in honour of Lupus warriors.

To celebrate Lupus Awareness Month, the Soulbent Project NPO, in solidarity with warriors battling lupus, led a cleaning initiative on May 9.

The clean-up was initiated across Mohlatwa Street, Vergenoeg Road, Schurweberg Road, Mabunda Street, and Phomolong Street.

According to the founder of the organisation Mashudu Makhado, the NPO is dedicated this month to community-driven environmental action and awareness advocacy.

“Our committed volunteers made efforts by participating in a cleaning initiative to bring real impact to Saulsville,” he said.

Makhado said his dedicated team has collected over 900 plastic bags.

“The activities included tree-planting, recycling, waste-sorting and vegetable gardening for food security,” he said.

Makhado emphasised that these activities play a crucial role in bringing the community together.

“These activities not only raise awareness for lupus but also promote sustainability, wellness, and community resilience,” said Makhado.

He further highlighted that the initiative honours those affected by lupus.

“Together we honour those affected by lupus through caring for our environment, educating our community and growing hope,” Makhado said.
