Driver dies in vehicle fire on Boschkop Road
A vehicle that was on fire on Boschkop Road has resulted in the death of the driver, prompting a police investigation.
A devastating vehicle fire claimed one life in Boschkop on May 26.
According to Tshwane Emergency Services (EMS), the incident occurred at about 10:56 on Boschkop Road near the train bridge.
EMS acting spokesperson Tebogo Maake said fire and rescue resources from the Mamelodi Fire Station were dispatched to the scene.
“When the crew arrived at the scene, a light motor vehicle had completely burned, with the driver inside,” Maake said.
He said that though the fire had been extinguished before their arrival, firefighters proceeded to cool down the vehicle to secure the scene.
Emergency medical practitioners on site declared the driver deceased.
“The scene was subsequently handed over to the South African Police Service (SAPS) for further investigation,” Maake explained.
EMS extended condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased.
