North CPF to implement new strategy, suggestion box
Spokesperson Lebo Moloi says they will focus on improving their relationship with the community. One of the ways to do so is through a suggestion box, where community members can drop off questions or suggestions to improve certain issues.
The Pretoria North Community Policing Forum (CPF) has adopted a series of resolutions aimed at strengthening safety, co-operation, and community involvement following its recent annual general meeting.
The resolutions signal a renewed commitment by the CPF to work closely with residents, businesses, councillors, and young people to address ongoing safety challenges in Pretoria North.
Central to the forum’s strategy is the belief that crime prevention requires a united and proactive community.
CPF spokesperson Lebo Moloi said the resolutions reflect a shared vision for a safer and more engaged community.
“These resolutions are not just plans on paper, but a commitment by all stakeholders to work together in tackling crime and improving safety in our area,” said Moloi.
One of the key focus areas highlighted is improving community relationships.
The CPF aims to strengthen communication and co-operation between residents and the forum, encouraging greater participation in safety initiatives.
Stronger relationships are expected to enhance trust and ensure that community concerns are addressed more effectively.
The CPF also resolved to work more closely with ward councillors. Moloi said councillors play a crucial role in linking the CPF with municipal structures, and increased collaboration is expected to improve co-ordination and response to local safety concerns.
She said by aligning efforts, the CPF believes it can better address issues such as crime hotspots and service delivery challenges that impact safety.
“Youth involvement is another major priority. Through the CPF Youth Desk, the forum plans to actively engage young people in positive activities and safety awareness programmes.
“This initiative aims to empower youth and encourage them to take an active role in building safer communities, while also steering them away from crime and social ills,” she said.
She said the CPF is focusing on strengthening partnerships with local businesses as businesses are seen as key stakeholders in community safety, particularly in supporting awareness campaigns and crime prevention efforts.
“By building stronger relationships with the business sector, the CPF hopes to create a safer environment for both residents and commercial areas.”
Another important resolution is the introduction of a suggestion box for community members.
Moloi said this initiative will provide residents with a platform to share ideas, concerns, and feedback with the CPF.
According to Moloi, this will ensure that the voices of the community are heard and considered in decision-making processes.
“The introduction of the suggestion box is about giving residents a direct voice. We want to ensure that every concern raised is acknowledged and contributes to shaping our safety strategies,” added Moloi.
The CPF believes that these combined efforts will significantly enhance community safety and foster a culture of collaboration.
With a clear roadmap in place, the forum is optimistic that Pretoria North can become a model for effective community policing through active participation and strong partnerships.
