Pretoria Central police and partnering law-enforcement stakeholders are asking for the public’s help in locating a suspected ATM vandalist, following CCTV footage obtained at the scene of the damaged machine.

The SAPS is currently on the lookout for a male suspect in connection with a case of malicious damage to property that occurred at an ATM at the corner of WF Nkomo and Thabo Sehume streets on May 19.

Bidvest Protea Coin and the Nedbank Task Team are assisting the police.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Thabang Nkhumise said according to the information given by the serious and violent crime investigator at Nedbank, the suspect is seen inserting coins into the machine, and as a result, has caused a lot of damage.

“This is one of the only few instances of damage that has taken place and as a result, the bank has sustained damages amounting to R144 785.80,” Nkhumise said.

“We seek the community to look closely. The picture was taken at night, but if one looks closely, one will get a glimpse of his features.”

Residents with any information related to this suspect are urged to contact the authorities immediately.
