The InsideOut Village and WineDown Boutique Bar hosted their annual Winter WineFest at the village’s square this past weekend, where guests could try wines from 20 different vineyards from the Cape Town area.

WineDown owner Sannel Strydom says that the festival on August 8 was definitely their biggest, accommodating vineyards from Lourensford, Stellenbosch Reserve, Copeland, and many more.

“We really just want people to enjoy the wine and have a good time. We’ve had wine festivals before, but this is the biggest one thus far. The next one we want to do is in October, an oyster and wine festival. We’re looking at doing two a year, a summer one and a winter one,” Strydom said.

WineFest has been taking place for three years, and Strydom says that while organising an event of this nature is no easy task, the industry she is in makes it possible nonetheless.

“It’s a good industry to be in; they all want to let the people enjoy the wine, that’s what it’s all about. To explore new wines and get the people to drink new wines is why. So while it’s a bit hectic getting them all here at the same time at the same place, we’re grateful that they are here,” Strydom added.

The Village is looking forward to hosting its Women’s Month Market on August 29 from 09:00–15:00, inviting all mothers, daughters, nieces, grandmas, aunts, and every woman in between to come partake.
