Miss Pretoria Dazzling 2022 hosts second annual pageant

The Miss Pretoria Dazzling 2022 pageant was held this past weekend to see which contestants would be crowned Miss Dazzling Queen of Pretoria and Miss Teen Dazzling Queen of Pretoria.

It was held at the Pretoria West Casbah restaurant (also known as Burger Box).

Miss Dazzling Pretoria is a company under Touch of Pitori. This was its second annual pageant since registration in 2021.

Yife, Philly’s Hair Therapy, Dark&lovely, Glam Melanin, Thalitha’s Nail Bar, B Media, The Core Visuals and Kpa Designers sponsored the event. The Pretoria West SAPS were also in attendance.

The organisers and founders, Mahlatse Mashigo and Rhulani Khotlo, believe that the pageant can inspire many young models and beauty queens to reach their full potential in the industry.

“The event went very well even though there were challenges here and there; fortunately, it was nothing that our team couldn’t overcome on the day,” said operational manager Rhulani Khotlo.

Fourteen finalists competed for Queen of Miss Dazzling Pretoria 2022 and seven for Queen of Miss Teen Dazzling Pretoria.

“Our team is made up of 20 members that have a winning mentality. Everything went particularly smoothly because of their experience,” Khotlo continued.

The young ladies that came out victorious in the Miss Teen Dazzling (13-18) were:

Queen – Tswelopele Nteo

– 1st Princess: Vivian Matemoja

– 2nd Princess: Oratile Sedibane

And the results of the Queen of Miss Dazzling (19-24) Pretoria were:

– Queen: Nicole Nelushi

– 1st Princess: Khutso Floral

– 2nd Princess: Maurine Seroka

The winners received cash prizes and hampers to the value of R10 000.

During the proceedings, Pretoria West SAPS communications officer, Sibongile Vuma addressed the young ladies and audience on some of the issues affecting women today.

“Please ladies, don’t ever shy away from opening a case of gender-based violence (GBV) inflicted upon you or someone you know. It is never too late to walk away from an abusive relationship,” Vuma told the audience.

The police also relayed information to the audience about general safety tips, the importance of avoiding conflict and contacting authorities, and how to avoid falling victim to crime.

The pageant wants to collaborate with other supporting organisations for the rest of the year. The organisers encouraged anyone interested in participating in the pageant next year to register.
