Qhekeka delighted by her run in the team

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies youngster Lumka Qhekeka says she has benefitted from the squad rotations Coach Jerry Tshabalala had to make in the Hollywoodbets Super League in recent weeks.

Qhekeka has managed to play a couple of games after Tshabalala had to rotate the squad a couple of times and try new formations due to injuries and suspensions.

Qhekeka told the club website that she was happy with the chances she got recently.

She said playing alongside several established international players has given her a new sense of belief.

“The older members of the squad as well as the coaching crew have been very supportive of my professional growth. I am hoping to get more game time so I can contribute to the overall success of the team,” she said.

She added that she hopes to add goals to her game.

“I also wish to get more goals because they win games,” Lumka stated.

Following the FIFA international break and Banyana Banyana’s involvement in friendlies, the ladies have had some time to cool off.

Qhekeka said the break allowed them to get some much-needed rest. She said they worked hard behind the scenes during the break.

“We have been very busy with our training programme in a bid to keep in shape. This is because we do not want to lose the momentum we have gained in the last few weeks,” she said.

She added that there was a lot to play for in the remainder of the season.

“We cannot be complacent,” she said.

The Brazilians are also gearing up for the 2022 CAF Women’s Champions League which takes place later this year.
