Sosh police launch CPF structure and GBV desk at TUT
Tshwane University of Technology takes a stand against gender-based violence & femicide by launching a Community Police Forum on the campus with the help of Soshanguve police.
A new community policing forum (CPF) and gender-based violence (GBV) desk on the University of Technology (TUT) south campus will provide students with a direct link to the police.
“It will also help victims of crime, especially GBV,” said Soshanguve police spokesperson Constable Nhlanhla Zondi.
“Launching a CPF structure and GBV desk at the campus was vital.
“TUT Soshanguve has students residing within and outside the campus. Thus, we thought it would be best to build a solid relationship with the students as they are part of the community.”
Zondi said the partnership promotes a safe and secure environment for the students.
Last week, TUT announced that a new GBV & Femicide (GBV&F) project and victim empowerment centre will help address this crisis successfully.
Soshanguve campus coordinator Dr Teddy Setshedi said empowering law enforcement officers must play a vital role in the protection of those vulnerable to GBV&F.
