Warning: Road closed for protest in CBD

Motorists are advised to avoid the affected areas and to use alternatives instead.

A police and prisons civil rights union (Popcru) march today, September 20, will affect streets around Pretoria central and motorists are advised to use alternatives.

Popcru is demanding the the government implement all signed collective agreements – salary and danger allowance increases and access to a portion of pension funds before retirement.

The marchers will gather on the corner of Kgosi Mampuru and Madiba streets, Pretoria central at 09:00 before marching to The Union Buildings.

The following intersections will be affected:

– Kgosi Mampuru Street

– Sophie de Bruyn Street

– Bosman Street

– Paul Kruger Street

– Thabo Sehume Street

– Lillian Ngoyi Street

– Sisulu Street

– Du Toit Street

– Nelson Mandela Drive

– Steve Biko Road

– Hamilton Street

– Government Avenue

They are expected to disperse from Union Buildings at 15:00.

Tshwane metro police officers will be deployed to monitor the march and all affected streets. Motorists are advised to avoid affected streets and use alternative routes such as:

– Nana Sita Street

– Francis Baard Street

– Stanza Bopape Street

– Struben Street
