Massive carnival to hit the east of Pretoria
“The Carnival has held interviews and is employing youth from around the area, which is exciting as we are providing local job opportunities.”
The Grove Mall will provide some of the nostalgic, breath-taking and thrilling rides during a massive carnival for three months from October 7.
Carnival revelers will from October 2022 to January 2023 be able to revisit their childhood memories or create new ones, as the east of Pretoria hosts its very own jamboree.
The traditional theme park operated by Carnival Kingdom will offer over 3 months’ worth of smiles, giggles and entertainment for family and friends, while the mall hosts a mix of entertainment – cinema and an ice rink.
The carnival will provide amazing new rides and activities such as the Tilter Whirl, 20m high Ferris wheel, speed racer: mini roller coaster cars, paintball shooting and food stalls.
Mall marketing manager Chris Hutchings said this year carnival staff would be employed from local areas in Pretoria.
“The carnival has held interviews and is employing youth from around the area, which is exciting as we are providing local job opportunities.”
He said this year, the carnival would be bigger and better than last year’s, as there were about 18 rides in total to entertain guests among other games.
“This year we are also offering birthday packages with your favourite restaurants.”
He said some restaurants will offer tickets and other incentives to anyone celebrating their birthday during the months of the carnival.
Hutchings said an armband package for unlimited rides was also available to enjoy during off-peak times.
“The great thing about the carnival is that there are rides for both young and old,” said Hutchings.
He said the mall prided itself on being a family destination and a better place to bring families and friends together.
The carnival will be set up alongside the mall at entrance 3 of the parking area.
Hutchings said the public had been calling in and sending messages on social media, with eagerness over the carnival.
“Since the carnival began setting up, we have been inundated with calls and messages over the event.”
He said some of the mall’s favourite eateries would be part of the carnival festivities such as Milky Lane, Sausage Saloon and Coffee Resolution, to name but a few.
The mall restaurants are also ready to welcome festival-goers once the kids and adults are hungry after enjoying the rides.
The carnival will be open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, public holidays and December school holidays.
