Centurion local is hopeful for 10th season of ‘Tropika Island of Treasure’
“If people from the future came to me and said that I would win the first challenge, I never would have believed them.”
A 21-year-old law student from Centurion couldn’t believe her luck that she came out top in the first challenge of the current season of Tropika Island of Treasure.
“If people from the future came to me and said that I would win the first challenge, I never would have believed them,” said Sria Reddy.
“It is difficult tackling these challenges – between running, fitting under wooden planks and throwing hacky sacks onto wooden beams that are 10 times taller than me, but I stay calm. For me, stressing won’t increase my productivity. I focus on the activity at hand and just do my best.”
Reddy decided to take part in the 10th season because she saw it as an opportunity to challenge herself emotionally and physically as well as have new experiences.
“I believed from the beginning of this journey that I would experience new things.”

The budding showbiz personality got off to a powerful start as she ended top in the season’s first challenge.
“Challenges on the show require a variety of skills – anything from strength and endurance to problem-solving and strategic thinking.”
When it comes to balancing her law degree and her dreams, she said that she always tried to keep a balance in her life.
“My law degree is way more demanding than my showbiz life. I wish it was the other way around!”
However, once she puts her mind to something, she tries to tackle it and get it done; otherwise, a good workout settles her mind.
“It helps relieve my stress as well as makes me more productive.”
Reddy wants to show people that they can achieve whatever they put their minds to.
“I hope that people will see that I’m a hard worker as well as an entertainer. I want people to be able to relate to me and enjoy what I have to offer! I want people to look at me and realise that regardless of your size, colour, ethnicity and so on, you can do anything you put your mind to.”
Tropika Island of Treasure lets everyday contestants team up with celebrity all-star partners to compete in a series of challenges that will test their strength, strategy, and willpower as they fight for their share of R1-million.
The new season will take place in the stunning Seychelles, but first, contestants had to earn their flavours locally in St Lucia, KwaZulu-Natal.
Tropika Island of Treasure airs every Saturday from 18:30 on SABC 3.
