Family still searching for their brother after two years of disappearance
A family in Mmakaunyane pleads with the public to help them find Johannes Mabote who has been missing for nearly two years.
Nearly two years after a Pretoria man went missing, police and family members are still desperately searching for him.
Johannes Mabote (47) from Mmakaunyane has been missing since December 28, 2020.
The family has been searching for him ever since with little success.
His distraught sister Roselyn Mabote said she last saw her brother sitting in the sitting room when she went to take a bath.
She said she couldn’t find her brother inside the house when she finished bathing.
“We looked around the yard and we could not find him,” she said.
Johannes was last seen wearing a red and black striped shirt and also a blue overalls with white sneakers.
Mabote said the disappearance of her brother has affected her and her mother who is now sick badly.
“This is hard for me and my mum has a heart condition because of this situation,” she said.
She said they only received one lead about her brother’s whereabouts but the search was in vain.
“We thought he was in Jericho near Brits, North West, but when we got there we couldn’t find him,” she said.
She added they are continuing their search in hope that they might find him.
Dube SAPS communication officer Tembi Nowathe has pleaded with the public to contact Detective Seshai on 012 704 3000 if they know of his whereabouts.
