Sosh ‘sister rapist’ among 63 arrested in one week alone

A Soshanguve man who allegedly raped his sister in block HH was among the 63 persons arrested by Rietgat police over the past week alone.
“On Saturday afternoon at around 16:30, the man allegedly followed his sister to her bedroom and asked to sleep with her,” said police spokesperson Captain Stephen Maluleka.
When she refused, the man allegedly punched her in the face and raped her.
The man made a brief appearance before the Soshanguve magistrate’s court on Tuesday, October 11, facing a rape charge.
The arrests were also for other crimes such as rape, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, contravention of a protection order and common assault and possession of drugs, possession of stolen property and possession of an unlicensed firearm, dealing in drugs, housebreaking and theft, intimidation, carjacking, common robbery and malicious property damage.
He said police were still searching for 15 suspects who have committed various crimes.
“We will arrest everyone on our wanted list,” said acting station commander Colonel William Molamudi.
“No one will evade the long arm of the law forever.”
Last month, the station arrested 50 suspects in a week for various crimes.
The suspects appeared in court last month.
Some were remanded in custody while others got bail.
All the arrested suspects are expected to appear before the Soshanguve magistrate’s court soon, according to Maluleka.
