Spur South Africa & The Grove Mall celebrates Spur’s 55th birthday

Spur celebrates their birthday on Friday, October 21 with The Grove Mall and hosted over 100 children at The Grove Mall Carnival in true Spur Style!

The Spur franchise recently turned 55 years old in South Africa.

They decided to celebrate their birthday on Friday, October 21 with The Grove Mall and hosted over 100 children at The Grove Mall Carnival in true Spur Style!

The more than 100 children, aged between 8-16, came from various areas of Pretoria and are currently living in dire circumstances or have been taken into the custody of welfare organisations or youth care centres. The Carnival was opened exclusively for these kids and a VIP party like no other was thrown.

Spur Steak Ranches spoiled each child with legendary Spur burger combos, ice creams, a giant cake and gift packs. What’s a Spur birthday without the classic Spur Birthday song? Spur team members from various branches around Pretoria east (Coyote Creek, Thunder Valley, River Falls, Oakridge) rallied together to sing and dance to the famous Spur Birthday Song, which played throughout the Carnival.

Speaking on behalf of Spur Corporation, Moshe Apleni commented: “Our communities are our greatest assets and what better way to celebrate Spur’s Birthday than by throwing a dream Spur Birthday to those less fortunate?”

Speaking on behalf of The Grove Mall, Julie-Anne Claassen mentioned: “The Grove Mall is known to be one of Pretoria’s best entertainment destinations. When Spur indicated that they wanted to throw a magnanimous Spur party for those less fortunate it was a no-brainer that The Grove Mall should go beyond expectations to celebrate in style, by offering to host the party at our carnival. Our teams then paired up to plan the best party any child would dream of!”

One of the youth care centres that attended the event was Gracia Child and Youth Care Centre. Organisation Founder Trudie Henderson said, “The children have not stopped talking about the event. This was a first for some of the children and that is now a tick on their bucket lists. The joy and love that was given and the attention to detail makes a big difference in each child’s life. It shows trust, love, care, respect and courage.

Another organisation present at the Birthday Bash was Hannah Charity and Empowerment Foundation. Ronel Brink, representing Hannah Charity on the day said: “This was the first time some of the children have ever been on a carousel or for that matter even had a Spur burger. Events like this mean more to the children than any words can describe. We are truly, truly grateful to Spur and The Grove Mall!”
