TUT Ladies plan to surpass last season’s tally of 59 points
They have 12 available points left to play for as the season reaches its climax and they could end the season with 67 points.
TUT Ladies FC continue the fight to remain 2nd in the league following a thrilling 6-1 victory over Vasco Da Gama on Sunday, October 30.
The Red Army ladies went into the game guns blazing with their troops ready to shoot and take down the opponents in an impressive fashion.
Head coach Sizwe Sibiya’s troops were looking to pick up maximum points after dropping two in a 3-3 draw against UJ in midweek.
Mary Ntsweng and Busisiwe Ndimeni both scored braces while Noluthando Vilakazi and Tumi Chabane joined the fun with a goal each.
Ntsweng said creating and scoring goals was pivotal to the team’s great performance on Sunday.
TUT had numerous shots on target but only managed to score six goals while conceding one.
Ntsweng said they are happy to put away their chances.
“The season has been very unpredictable. There are games where we’re supposed to win but we did not, so I think scoring goals today was just the motivation for the next games,” she said.
Ndimeni said they were unlucky to concede a goal after a deflection off a defender.
TUT forward Ndimeni was denied a hattrick by the assistant referee’s flag.
“That was a wrong call. They robbed me, that’s daylight robbery. That wasn’t offside,” she said.
Sibiya said they’re not just chasing the second place position but the points tally compared to last season.
“The biggest thing that we are chasing is the numbers. Last week we finished the season at 59 points but this season we want to surpass that and that for us would be an achievement,” he said.
He said his team why four points shy of that feat.
They’ve won 16 games, drawn seven and only lost three matches.
TUT are the third-highest-scoring team in the league with 62 goals.
