Tsimba appointed new TUT Vikings head coach
Kennedy Tsimba has taken the reins at TUT Vikings as the new head coach. He joins the team having won Varsity Young Guns 2022 with Tuks this year.
Former Cheetahs and Blue Bulls rugby player Kennedy Tsimba has been named the new TUT Vikings head coach.
The 2012 World Rugby Hall of Fame inductee joins TUT rugby on the back of a successful Varsity Young Guns campaign with Tuks’ Young Guns.
Tsimba is a well-decorated athlete who played for Cheetahs and Blue Bulls rugby where he became known as an outstanding point scorer.
He holds the record for the quickest 1 000 points scored by a South African player in professional competitions.
The newly appointed coach said he’s excited to have the opportunity to manage the achievements, successes and challenges of these rugby players.
“It is a huge privilege to be appointed as head coach of the Vikings. I believe that this institute has great potential and is perfectly situated to be one of the leading rugby pathways for young talented and committed rugby students,” he said.
The wait is over, and the TUT Vikings' new head coach has been named!

He said he’s looking forward to the experience of creating a unique culture.
TUT Vikings didn’t show their capability in recent months, however, Tsimba believes that TUT has a huge potential of becoming successful.
“We’ve got strong management and the right people who are supporting us and that on its own can help change the perception of a brand,” he said.

TUT Vikings finished last with only four points in this year’s Varsity Shield but Tsimba believes that he can change the team’s fortunes.
“I believe that you can change the perception of any brand. Let’s be fair, about six years ago, people were burning the Springboks jersey but in 2019 everyone was wearing a Springboks jersey,” he said.
He added that with the management they have and the planning that has been going on in the last two months, they’re going in the right direction.
