Get out and about before the year runs away with you
Spend some time in nature before your 2023 gets into full swing.

Here’s to the New Year! 2023 has started and, whether you feel like it or not, it will take you places. So get into the driver’s seat and start planning your route!
Why not start the year on an active note:
Participate in the ARC Irene Fun Walk or run on Saturday, January 6. Distances from 2km, 5km, 10km, 15km and 21km will get the blood pumping – as fast or as slow as you want to go.
More information can be found from Glizelle at 083 264 3931.
All the usual Park Run venues will be open, so take note and get those running shoes on.
Or take a walk on the wild side. See some animals and birds and give those legs a stretch in a more leisurely fashion, by visiting a bird park, wildlife sanctuary or nature reserve. There are several choices. Rietvallei Nature Reserve for motorised visits to see big game, or the Austin Roberts Bird Sanctuary, the Bishop Bird Area near Rooihuiskraal, or die Boardwalk Bird Sanctuary in Olympus. Struben Dam also offers a walking trail with birds in abundance. And, of course, there is the National Botanical Gardens for a walk in yet another stunning Pretoria setting.
More hiking can be done at Bronkhorstpruit, Groenkloof, Klapperkop, Faerie Glen, and Moreleta Kloof nature reserves with great bird sightings and animals such as zebra and smaller mammals to observe while hiking or having a picnic.
So don’t hesitate. Get out and participate before the year runs ahead of you.
